I’m Lindsey, the organic loving, sci-fi reading, brownie eating, crunchy, mommy nurse of 2. Like most other kick-ass mommas, I’ve partially traded my stethoscope and IV stabbing for some kid raising. I still work a bit, but my main love right now is my minis, which is excellent, because the back pain and varicose veins are killing me.
Yea, I spend most of my day breastfeeding at the moment, but a girl has to eat. So I got motivated to start a second business, work from home part-time, and spend more time with the “girls” out breastfeeding my baby.
So you’ve found me!
Hey, I know you!
If you’re here, you fall into at least one of my lovely categories:
A. You want a positive, natural birthing experience, and you have no idea where to start. Besides, you’re scared as heck about pushing out an eight pounder from your vagina.
B. You want to know how to have a natural birth in a hospital setting. Everyone is telling you, you’re crazy and that you should get the epidural.
C. You’re pregnant, or you’re a new mom who wants to throw out a chunk of the toxic mess crowding every surface in your sweet home and live a more natural, non-toxic family life.
D. You’re a new mom, and your not sure which parenting style is right for you, but you know you want to raise secure kids and learn more about natural parenting.
Or you don’t fit in one category; maybe you don’t just want a natural birth, you want a natural everything. You want it oozing through your pores and dripping on the floor. You want it in the birthing room, in the way you parent, and especially in the way you live. So you’ve come to the right place.
I’m not going to bore you with a story of passion and woe. But I will tell you that I created this space for you…yea you.
Am I Right?
And me…well, my job is to help you get there by sharing my knowledge and experience with having natural births. I’ll share ways to keep your pregnancy healthy. How to manage your labor and show you how to prepare. You’ll be ready to take that birth by the horns and show it whose boss.

Why Modern Birthing Mama?
I created Modern Birthing Mama to help inform, educate, and offer tips on having a positive, natural birthing experience. I’ve had two amazing natural births, and I want to help you do the same. I, too, had to gain confidence in my innate ability to give birth without any or minimal interventions.
I’m not going to lie; it was one of the hardest things I have ever done but felt so damn good to complete.
So I don’t mean to brag, and cause the eye roll and neck snap by some epidural loving mommas, but can I just say that my births were epic.
Well, minus the screaming, cussing, and bloody mess. Ok, I’m exaggerating, there was no screaming, I labored quietly, but a bit of cussing and blood was just necessary. After all, one of my natural births was with an almost ten-pounder—no tearing either :).
It was still such an incredible fear-free birth. And by natural, I mean, no epidural. Just me and my baby, working together to comply with the terms in their eviction notice.
Since starting the blog, I quickly realized that I enjoy talking about more than just birth. So this blog reflects my journey on raising a family using the natural parenting approach and our transformation to a more natural, non- toxic lifestyle.
As well as being a resource for moms like you during your journey into the unknown, daunting realm of motherhood.
Let’s Be Honest Here
We are not perfect at living a 100 percent natural lifestyle, and we do so in moderation. We’ve been working on this for 4 years and it’s a work in progress. And I don’t want you thinking that we consume or use nothing unless it’s organic and natural. That would be false.
Most of the main things we consume or use are non-toxic. We do get a few regular items here and there, depending on what’s available and prices.
We are not 100 percent natural, non-toxic, although we would like to be. So this blog reflects our continued strive and transformation to a healthier, natural, non-toxic life.
So don’t judge me and call in the swat team if you see me having a non-grass-fed burger or drinking a can of soda. I usually don’t drink normal soda, but I’m guessing the water probably tasted like sewage or a chlorine pool.
Alright, I’ll move on, I think you’ve got it.
Why me?
I have a bachelor’s and master’s in nursing, and I’ve been a nurse for over ten years in various roles. So I understand the importance of evidence-based practice.
